Commander, US Navy, CCDCOE Strategy Branch Research Head
Commander Jack Shis hails from Irvine, California. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and Johns Hopkins University. Commander Shis commissioned as a US submarine officer in 2005 and is a graduate of the US Navy’s Submarine Officer Advanced Course and the US Navy nuclear propulsion training pipeline. He has conducted four extended deployments to the Western Pacific region aboard US fast attack submarines.
Commander Shis has also completed operational tours associated with the US Sixth Fleet located in Naples, Italy, US Fifth Fleet headquartered in Manama, Bahrain, and the US Seventh Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan. After transferring from the US Navy submarine force to the US Navy’s Information Warfare Community as an Information Professional Officer, Commander Shis completed a tour of duty with US Naval Forces Korea in Busan, Korea. Commander Shis most recently completed a two year tour of duty with US Special Operations Command Europe in Stuttgart, Germany.
Commander Shis currently serves as the Strategy Branch Head at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence located in Tallinn, Estonia.
