LT CDR Giacomo ANTONIOLI servesthe Italian Coast Guard Headquarters’ Plans and Operations Department, as Head of Section Analysis, Information and Statistic Support.

He attended the Naval Academy from 2006 to 2011 and he graduated in Governance and Administration of the Sea. His skills are related to maritime and security domain.

Starting from 2012, he embarked on board of ITCGS off-shore patrol vessels as Head of Operations Department, participating in mass rescue operations related to the migration flows in Southern Med (about 10.000 people rescued) and maritime law enforcement activities against smuggling and environmental crimes (about 70 smugglers arrested).

From 2016 to 2020, he served at the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre as Duty Officer, coordinating several Search and Rescue operations.

During his carrier, he has been the Commanding Officer of 3 ITCG off-shore patrol vessels, lastly OPV Gregoretti – CP940, being deployed in several international Joint operations.

From 2020, he is the Department operational Point of Contact for maritime security and port security; in this context he develops risk analyses, on behalf of the Italian Government, for the adoption of security measures for the Italian merchant fleet abroad.

He participates in National, European and international correspondence groups, as ITCG representative, such as EMSA SAR correspondence group, NATO White Shipping Picture community, FRONTEX Maritime Intelligence Community & Risk Analysis Network, Shadow fleet contact group.
