Ambassador, Managing Director for Strategies and International Cooperation, Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN)
Ambassador Massimo Marotti is Managing Director for Strategies and International Cooperation at the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) since May 2023.
He coordinated the G7 Working Group on Cybersecurity cooperation established under the Italian Presidency of the G7 in 2024.
Between 2020-2023, he was senior diplomatic advisor at Italy’s Ministry of Defence.
In 2015 he was appointed Ambassador to Lebanon. In Beirut, he built on the strong cultural and economic and military ties between Italy and Lebanon to intensify political exchanges and strengthen the defence assistance programs to Lebanese Armed Forces.
Between 2013 and 2015 he was Ambassador to Iraq. In Baghdad, where he had served 25 years before, he succeeded in expanding the bilateral relations.
He held senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2009 and 2012, including Deputy Director General for Political Affairs and International Security.
In 2006 he was Alternate Representative of Italy to the UN Security Council in New York. Before, he served at the Italian Embassy to the United States. In Washington he was in charge of relations with the Defence and Treasury Departments and analysed policies related to International Energy, Telecommunications and Banking.
He published articles on The Search for Stability in the Mediterranean area; The Middle East after the First Golf War; Luxembourg’s Financial Market; The Reform of the UN’s Security Council Governance; The European Security and Defence Policy.
