In August 2021 Roberto Baldoni was appointed by the then Prime Minister Mario Draghi as the first General Director of the National Cybersecurity Agency, a mandate that he assumed from September 2021.
From January 2018 until August 2021 he was Deputy General Director of the Italian Information Department for Security in charge of developing the National Cybersecurity Architecture and coordinating the mitigation actions of cyber attacks with an impact on national security.
During these four years, he was also the EU national contact point for the implementation of the NIS Directive (Directive on security of network and information systems) and for NATO on cyber policy issues.
Since 2002 Roberto Baldoni is Full Professor of Computer Science at “La Sapienza” University of Rome where he founded in 2011 and directed until 2017 the first research center in Italy on “Cyber Intelligence and Information Security”.
In 2014 he founded and directed until 2017 the National Cybersecurity Laboratory of Italy which joined more than 200 faculties from 45 public and private universities in Italy.
